WA Guests Experience Academy Life
Wisconsin—With Youth Rally, the Knights' Home Show, and Academy Days, Apr. 29–May 1 was a large and eventful weekend at Wisconsin Academy (WA). Not a single guest room was left vacant.
At vespers on Fri. night, Fishhook, WA's drama team, performed "Entertaining Angels," a play focused on spiritual warfare. The story of how a young couple and their daughter faced the trials of this world, which pushed the family to the brink of separation, unfolded before an attentive audience. The sincerity and genuineness of the actors along with its tragic ending left many of the spectators in tears. “Now we know what our most powerful program is here [at WA ],” said Roy Seals, coach. Jackie James, Enrollment Services counselor at Southern Adventist University, wrapped up the performance with a few words about the battle which is not between flesh and blood.
Sabbath school consisted of an activity where good and bad angels were chosen and given the responsibility to convince the other people to come with them to “Heaven.” Students were given the chance to see how easily deceived we can be. In the afternoon, students were given the option to go to a local gas station and wash car windows, witness at a nursing home, or participate in a nature walk. After a special music program, another inspiring message was presented by the pastor to wrap up the spiritual aspect of the weekend.
Sat. night the WA Knights, along with the Minnetonka Royals, and several previous Knights' members, put on the annual gymnastics home show.
Academy Days commenced on the last day of the weekend. Visiting students were given a tour of the WA campus. At each classroom they were given quizzes and were introduced to academy life. There was also a gymnastics clinic held and voice/piano auditions in the music department. An assembly was held in the chapel, where students were given scholarships and awards for the quizzes and tryouts.
The weekend passed quickly with the flurry of events. Both visiting and current students were given the chance to gain a blessing and strengthen their spiritual life. “I wish there was always this many students at WA!” said Michelle Paulsen, a junior.
