MichiganIt was probably some time in 2005 when Diana Inman first watched Doug Batchelor's DVD, "The Final Events of Bible Prophecy." Soon after, the Marshall Adventist Church, where she is a member, ordered a large quantity of the DVDs for members to use as evangelism tools.
In Spring 2006, Inman noticed there were still a couple boxes of the DVDs at church, and she began to look for ways to use them. Since she often sells health books, activated charcoal, and assorted "junk" on eBay, she decided to try a DVD. It sold quickly, and another was soon listed. Before long that one was sold and shipped out as well.
At camp meeting, the Personal Ministries department sold the DVDs by the case to lay workers as well as churches. Inman bought two cases. She replaced the ones shed gotten from church so she didn't deplete their supply, and then she continued to list hers on eBay.
She says its close to a "break-even" deal for her after figuring the purchase price and the eBay listing fees. Sometimes one or two DVDs sell in one week, but other times they are listed for several weeks without a sale.
Inman has sold more than 40 DVDs on eBay. She has shipped the DVDs to nearly half the the states in the United States and to several foreign countries. Needless to say, they are now a permanent eBay listing and continue to be sent out to searching individuals.
"There are many ways to share Jesus," said Inman. "Ask Him how He wants you to do it."
Inman, along with family and friends, sets up items to sell at garage sales, flea markets, and other selling places several times a year. She adds prophecy DVDs (one at a time) to the other VHS tapes and DVDs for sale, pricing them at the garage sale price of one or two dollars each. Those usually sell, also.
"Whatever may have been your former practice, it is not necessary to repeat it again and again in the same way. God would have new and untried methods followed. Break in upon the peoplesurprise them" (Evangelism 125).
