General Conference President Erton Köhler will preach Sabbath, Oct. 3, as the Battle Creek Tabernacle marks 100 years of worship and ministry in Battle Creek, Michigan.
The centennial celebration begins Friday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m. with an evening of early Adventist hymns and stories about the denomination’s pioneers. Sabbath School begins at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 3 and will feature stories from around the world, along with a panel discussion of the week’s Sabbath School lesson featuring members of the Ellen G. White Estate.
A weeklong revival series will continue the anniversary observance, culminating with a special Sabbath worship service and a rededication service on Sabbath, Oct. 10, when members will recommit themselves and the church to God’s service.
Built in 1926 to replace the Dime Tabernacle, the Battle Creek Tabernacle has served generations of Seventh-day Adventists who have gathered there for worship, spiritual growth and service.
Its roots stretch back further to the early meeting houses that served Battle Creek’s growing Adventist community. Through changing generations and seasons of ministry, the Tabernacle has remained a spiritual home for members and a significant part of Adventist history in the city where the denomination’s early work took shape.
