Laura Frary Joins Lake Union Education Department

The Lake Union Conference is pleased to announce that Laura Frary has joined the Education department as associate director for early childhood education and registrar.

A veteran educator with over 13 years of classroom and leadership experience, Frary brings deep expertise and a heart for children to her new role.

Frary, a Michigan native, has served in multiple educational roles with Michigan Conference. Most recently, she was principal and teacher at Greater Lansing Adventist School. Prior to that, she served for seven years as teacher and principal at Holland Adventist Academy and six years as a classroom teacher at Oakwood Academy in Taylor, Michigan.

“I’m passionate about building strong foundations for learning,” said Frary. “There’s something powerful about watching a young child discover their abilities and begin to see themselves as a learner. It’s a privilege to support that process and now I look forward to helping other educators do the same across the Lake Union.”

Frary holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with minors in mathematics and language arts from Andrews University, a master’s degree in elementary reading and literacy from Walden University, and most recently completed a certificate in instructional coaching through Andrews University in 2024.

As associate director, Frary will support the growth and development of educators across the Lake Union territory, while also serving as registrar, overseeing teachers’ certification and continuing education.

“Mrs. Frary is a thoughtful, skilled, attentive educational leader and colleague who will bring her insights, expertise and experience to the roles of early childhood education and registrar of the Lake Union,” said Ruth Horton, education director for the Lake Union Conference. “We are delighted she’ll be a part of the team and wish her ‘good success.’”

Frary’s favorite subject to teach is math, and she’s known for her ability to make learning meaningful and fun. Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Tom, reading, camping, and snuggling with her cats, Jack and Leroy.

Join us in welcoming Laura to the Lake Union team.
