Pathfinders attending the Lake Union’s “Unbreakable” Pathfinder Camporee can take part in a new scavenger hunt across the Berrien County Youth Fairgrounds, with participants who complete all seven stops receiving a free commemorative pin.
The scavenger hunt, organized by the Lake Union education and communication departments, will open Friday, Sept. 25, the first full day of the camporee. It is open to any Pathfinder registered for the event.
About 3,000 Pathfinders and staff from across the Lake Union are expected to gather at the fairgrounds in Berrien Springs from Thursday, Sept. 24, through Sunday, Sept. 27, for the camporee, which is held every five years. This year’s theme, “Unbreakable,” is based on Jeremiah 1:19: “They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.” (NKJV)
To participate in the scavenger hunt, Pathfinders can register for the interactive app on their own or with a club leader, then follow clues directing them to designated landmarks around the fairgrounds. At each stop, participants will scan an “Unbreakable” QR code, read a short story and answer a question. A correct answer will unlock the clue leading to the next stop.
The seven stops will introduce participants to a century of Adventist history while taking them across the camporee grounds. Those who complete all seven can show their finished screen at the Lake Union education and communication booth to receive a pin. Participants who need assistance with the hunt also can visit the booth.
The camporee will feature mainstage worship programs as well as on- and off-site activities and honors.
Keynote speakers are Armando Miranda, North American Division associate youth director, and Alfred Kwasi Asiem, associate youth director for the General Conference.
