The Lake Union Conference mourns over the loss of ten innocent lives due to a senseless act of violence that occurred at a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado on Monday, March 22 of this year. Multiple media sources have reported that this shooting is the seventh mass shooting in seven days. Each life taken by any evil act is known and loved by God. We call upon all of our members to pray over the families of the following individuals whose lives were so quickly and tragically taken:

Officer Eric Talley - 51 years old - an 11 year veteran with the Boulder Police Department and a father of seven, who had quit his computing job at 40 to become a police officer and who was the first on the scene in response to the shooting

Denny Strong, a 20 year old – this young man was at the time simply paying for his lunch

Neven Stanisic, 23 years old - a repairman working at the store

Rikki Olds, 25 year old – manager of the Kings Sooper grocery

Tralona Bartkowiak, 49 years old – manager of her family’s company in Boulder

Teri Leiker, 51 years old – she worked at the store for 31 years

Suzanne Fountain, 59 years old - worked for the Denver Center for Performing Arts

Kevin Mahoney, 61 years old - a man who had walked his daughter down the aisle last summer and who revealed she was soon going to make him a grandfather

Lynn Murray, 62 years old - a retired mother of two who was an Instacart employee

Jody Waters, 65 years old – she worked at a clothing boutique in Boulder

Our hearts ache for the families of these individuals and so we call for our members to include in their prayers each of these families. While we may not personally know them as individuals, we are encouraged by the fact that God knows them by name and so as we intercede for these families, let us claim the following promise on their behalf found in Isaiah 41:10 – “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
