Set to welcome its inaugural cohort, the OTD program is accepting applications for the fall 2025 semester.
The OTD program at Andrews University is an innovative offering within the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, providing students with an unparalleled educational experience rooted in academic excellence, Christian values and a commitment to service. The program has been granted Applicant for Accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), affirming its quality and alignment with the highest educational standards.
Program Highlights:
Innovative Educational Framework: Andrews University’s OTD program features a unique curriculum that integrates hands-on learning with cutting-edge research, ensuring graduates are fully equipped to meet the demands of the profession.
3+3 Program Format: This accelerated track allows students to earn both a bachelor’s degree and a doctorate in occupational therapy within six years, rather than the traditional seven, saving time and tuition costs.
Small Cohort Size: With a focus on personalized education, students benefit from close interaction with world-class faculty and peers in a collaborative, supportive environment.
Christian Education: As a Seventh-day Adventist institution, Andrews University provides a faith-based education that emphasizes the holistic treatment of patients—addressing not just their physical needs, but also their emotional, social and spiritual well-being.
Strong Career Outlook: The demand for occupational therapists is projected to grow by 12% through 2032, offering graduates strong job security and a competitive median annual salary of $96,370.
Kimberly Ferreira, PhD, chair of the School of Rehabilitation Sciences, expressed enthusiasm about the new program, stating, “Our OTD program is designed to not only equip students with the technical skills necessary for success but also to instill a deep commitment to service and compassion. We’re excited to shape the next generation of occupational therapists who will make a significant impact in their communities and beyond.”
Prospective students are encouraged to apply early, as spots in the inaugural cohort are limited. Online information sessions will be held monthly to provide details about the program, including admission requirements and the application process.
