Lake Region—Lake Region Adult Ministries director, Leon Bryant, was honored Tuesday, Jan. 15, with an Excellence in Ministry award from the North American Division.

Bryant, who also serves as pastor of the Chicago New Life Church, was recognized for his “dedication to Sabbath school facilitators training, emphasizing the importance of small groups in the context of ‘action units,’ encouraging family group dynamics for Sabbath school growth.”

After receiving his award from NAD Adult Ministries director, Alfred Johnson II, at the Adventist Ministries Convention in Albuquerque, N.M., Bryant said, “I am pleased to partner with those involved in Adult Ministries, particularly Sabbath school, and disciple individuals through fellowship, outreach and Bible study.”

In his remarks, Johnson said that Bryant is one of the most reliable supporters of Adult Ministries. “He’s the spiritual backbone and a friend who’s reliable in service.”

Bryant graduated Oakwood University (1982) with Bachelor’s degrees in Theology and Psychology, and Andrews University (1991) with a Master’s in Divinity. He is married to the former Barbara Ann Escoe; they have two children and one grandson.
