"We will lead with spirituality, sensitivity and inclusivity," Gabriel said following his election. "We want everyone, whether they're a pastor, teacher, administrative assistant or constituent to know that we are all a part of a united family with a mission to win souls for the kingdom!"
On Sunday, September 19, after almost seven hours of careful and prayerful deliberation, the Lake Region Executive Committee members voted to elect Garth Gabriel as conference president for the remainder of the 2018-2022 term.
Gabriel has been serving as acting president since July 1 after Dr. R. Clifford Jones vacated the position of president to serve as Dean of the School of Theology for Oakwood University.
"We will lead with spirituality, sensitivity and inclusivity," Gabriel said following his election. "We want everyone, whether they're a pastor, teacher, administrative assistant or constituent to know that we are all a part of a united family with a mission to win souls for the kingdom!"
Prior to his election as president, Gabriel served for three years as Lake Region’s executive secretary. Gabriel is a graduate of Atlantic Union College and has pastored in the Lake Region Conference for nearly 25 years including the Conant Gardens, Highland Park, and Community Fellowship churches. He is known as a compassionate and effective leader who empowers others. A former vocalist with The Heritage Singers, Gabriel and his wife of 42 years, Rosita, have four children and four grandchildren.
