Jose Cortes to headline Youth Evangelism Congress

Organizers of the Lake Union Youth Evangelism Congress announced the speaker lineup for the bi-annual conference scheduled for the weekend of Feb. 18-20 in Shipshewana, Indiana. 

North American Division associate ministerial director, Jose Cortes Jr. is the main speaker for the event which seeks to inspire, train and resource senior youth and young adults to share the good news of the Kingdom of God at their local churches.  

This year is the 5th Lake Union Youth Evangelism Congress, and the theme is “Unstoppable” based on Matt. 28:19, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” 

This event that began in 2013 has funded a grand total of $373,872 for 72 evangelism projects in a joint effort between the Lake Union, local Conferences, and local churches.

  • Jessica Dellen, director of Neighbors in Need, a compassion ministry of Indiana’s Anderson Church  
  • Chris Dellen, president of Delmar and Rethinking Evangelism 
  • Olivia Joyce, president of iCanvass club at Andrews University 
  • Rodney Pidu, Jr., leader of Elmhurst Church’s Community Lifestyle Center 
  • Lilly Widdicombe, leader of Berrien Springs Village Church young adults small group 
  • John Leis III, pastor of the Bloomington Church and Indiana public campus ministry coordinator  
  • Pedro Luis, pastoral intern in La Crosse, Wisconsin; initiating public campus ministry at University of La Crosse 
  • Keila Carmona, Andrews University women’s residence hall dean; mental health specialist 
  • Andres Flores, pastor of Chicagoland area EPIC Church
