Lake Union and local conferences offer $100,000 for youth-led evangelism

Youth Congress aims to train and equip youth for ministry

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. - Matthew 28:19.

In 2018, 360+ senior youth & young adults ages 16-35 in the Lake Union Conference gathered together with pastors, youth directors, ministerial directors, Conference presidents, and Union administrators to be empowered and resourced for evangelism back in their local churches and communities. As a result, young adult leaders used up to $160,000 from a joint evangelism fund from Lake Union, local conferences, and their local churches to launch new evangelism projects. Their goals were all the same: to bring the gospel to their local church community.

Every other year, all Lake Union congregations are requested to send two or more Congress delegates. On February 14-16, 2020 the Lake Union Conference will be hosting another Youth Evangelism Congress in Shipshewana, Indiana, for those willing to be COURAGEOUS to spread the gospel with God's power (Joshua 1:9). The congress will once again have the presence of pastors, youth directors, ministerial directors, Conference presidents, and Union administrators who share the belief that to nurture the church, we need to invest in it and its senior youth & young adult leaders.

The Youth Evangelism Congress is an event unlike any other. Over the course of the weekend, delegates will prepare a plan for evangelism in their local churches or communities, while being given the leadership and guidance from others who have been both successful, and unsuccessful, in their ministries. Once the delegates depart from the conference, they will have the opportunity to present their plan to their church board, and the Lake Union alongside CYE will help make those plans a reality.

“With such an army of workers as our youth, rightly trained, might furnish, how soon the message of a crucified, risen, and soon-coming Savior might be carried to the whole world!”  (Ellen White, Education, pg. 271)
