David Oceguera was appointed as vice president, mission and ministry for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, effective Dec. 1.
Oceguera has an extensive background in spiritual leadership and organizational change. He has served as the lead pastor of the Bolingbrook Church for six years, where he mentored ministry leaders, fostered a culture of empowerment and provided visionary leadership and pastoral care to a vibrant congregation.
Since 2020, he also has served as a chaplain for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth, providing support and compassionate care to patients, their families and the AdventHealth leadership team.
A hallmark of Oceguera’s leadership is his deep commitment to resilience. His doctoral research was focused on leading organizational change, giving leaders practical tools to develop resilience. “We cannot extend the healing ministry of Christ if we ourselves are not healed,” said Oceguera. “True spiritual leadership begins with wholeness. My mission is to help our leaders and team members cultivate deep resilience so they can serve with strength, lead with clarity and experience greater peace in both their work and their lives.”
