The Lord loves to give gifts and good things to His children. He rains on the good and evil alike.  Sometimes the evil people can partake in showers of blessings just because they are in close proximity to the righteous. But that is far different that the Lord telling you, I’ve got your back, I promise.

The Bible is filled with promises! Almost every book in the Bible has promises. However, the promises are for the righteous. For example, I once was young and now I am old. I have never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread Ps 37:25. The Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runneth into it and is safe Prov 18:10. The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish, but he casteth away the substance of the wicked Prov 10:2, the Lord is far from the wicked; but he heareth the prayer of the righteous Prov. 15:29. The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles Ps 34:17.

I have often felt so unrighteous and wondered if there is anyone righteous? The Bible answers, no, not one . Romans 3:10. Is the Bible filled with promises that no one can claim? Who are these promises for?

We can rejoice that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He took my sins and gave me his righteousness. All I have to do is accept it. When I put on his robe of righteousness I stand before the Father as if I had never sinned! Therefore, all of those promises in the Bible for the righteous are for me and you, and anyone who accepts Christ’s gift. I can put my name in those verses for the Righteous!  The Lord is a strong tower. Susan Allen runs into it and is safe. Try putting your name there when you read the promises.

There will be times when you are going through a difficulty and start claiming the promises of God Promises that you can take to the Lord and claim as your own. When you do that, put a T next to that verse with the date that you are claiming the promise. The T means you tried that promise. When God answers your prayer, put a P next to the T with the date. The P means that the promise has been proven. Every time you open your Bible you will see the promises that have been tried and proven I your life. It will take you back in your mind’s eye to the time when you were struggling and God came through! Ellen White advises that the only thing we have to fear for the future is that we forget how the Lord has led in the past. This is one way to never forget!
