Felicia Tonga has been named assistant director of Communication of the Lake Union. In her new position, Felicia will continue to work directly with the union’s departments and our conferences to provide writing, design, marketing and video editing services. She’ll also be responsible for managing the Lake Union’s websites, serving as director for livestream broadcasts, and overseeing display and classified advertisements for the Herald.
"It's a blessing to work with such a dynamic team of talented individuals who have a genuine love for the Lord," says Felicia. "I am looking forward to strengthening communication across the Lake Union and using the power of media to tell stories that can bring us closer to Christ.”
Felicia joined the Lake Union as Communication intern in 2017 and a year later was hired as our Media Specialist. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Communication from Andrews University and a Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communication from La Sierra University.
“Felicia is a top-notch storyteller with a proven track record of creating impactful, professional videos,” says Lake Union director of Communication, Debbie Michel. “She has a knack for managing multiple projects—often from scratch, such as implementing an online system for subscriber and advertiser services. She performs these tasks with personal communication skills second to none. We are delighted Felicia will continue to work alongside our team.”
She is married to film director/producer, Michael Taimi, and together they have four children.
We welcome Katie Fellows to our team as assistant Communication specialist. Katie’s primary responsibilities include curating content for the weekly Herald newsletter, managing the social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Vimeo; updating the Herald website and assisting with circulation tasks, such as change of addresses.
Before the Lake Union, Katie was a Communication intern for the Washington Conference where she curated social media content, managed web updates, and provided general departmental and ministry support. She graduated Southern Adventist University with a Bachelor of Science in mass communication, emphasis in writing and editing.
“During the last year, while our team had to adapt to a new paradigm, Katie was critical to keeping our operations going,” says Debbie Michel, Lake Union director of Communication. “We welcome her gift sets, including a keen eye for detail and excellent people skills, that will aid our continued push of telling God’s stories in the widening digital space.”
Katie says, "I have greatly enjoyed working alongside Debbie and Felicia and I’m excited to use my gifts to support God’s calling for the Lake Union communication team."
Katie is married to Bryan, a freelance film and television producer.
