June 20 is World Refugee Day, a time designated by the United Nations to honor the resilience and courage of refugees around the world. In recognition of this day, Refugee Sabbath—launched by Adventist Refugee & Immigrant Ministries—invites churches to pause and reflect on the experiences of displaced people. We encourage Lake Union congregations to set aside Sabbath, June 14, for worship and prayer focused on the needs and stories of refugees. It’s a meaningful opportunity for churches to share God’s heart for those who have been uprooted by war, persecution or natural disaster. Joining in solidarity with those forced to flee, we share some of their stories.
